The Lifetime Achievement Award of SAAPS was awarded for the first time in 2010. Since then, every two years at the National Conference it is awarded to a recipient who is generally regarded as a scholar who deserves recognition as a political scientist in South Africa.
SAAPS will in 2021, award prizes for best Political Science student.
